The Costa Dorada consists of around 60 beaches of all types: the fine sand and shallow waters of Salou and La Pineda, the cliffs and rocks of Torredembarra, the small bays of Mont-Roig del Camp and Miami Platja, and those geared to nudists such The Torn beach in L'Hospitalet de l'Infant.

The Costa Dorada boasts a rich historic, architectural and cultural heritage, the origins of which date back to the times of colonisation by the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Among the most important examples are the Roman heritage of Tarragona and the Cistercian monastery of Poblet, both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as the modernist style buildings of the city of Reus.
The Costa Dorada has also presented the world with other artistic personalities of the calibre of musician Pau Casals (in whose honour an important cycle of classical music concerts is celebrated annually in El Vendrell, his birthplace), painter Joan Miró and architect Antoni Gaudí, among others.

Cuisine in Costa Dorada

The local Costa Dorada cuisine features a wide range of distinctive Mediterranean flavours in a harmonious mixture of farm and sea products. xató, calçots, civet of wild boar, Rossejat noodles with seafood and Reus blancmange are some of the most popular specialities to have come out of the region.

And what better than a good wine to accompany these dishes? Excellent wines are produced in 5 certified wine-making regions (Montsant, Priorat, Penedès, Conca de Barberà and Tarragona) along the Costa Dorada. Furthermore, most of the vineyards in the region are included under the Cava origin denomination. The importance of the wine industry in the Tarragona region is reflected by the numerous tastings, fairs and festivals associated with the sector held over the year, particularly at harvest time in late summer.
