Lucas woke up feeling wide awake; the excitement of knowing he was going on holiday had him buzzing. Today was the day! Finally, the most awaited moment of the year had arrived—that time when the car would be packed with suitcases, the house windows would be shut, and the whole family would set off towards their summer holiday destination. Their destination: the long-dreamed-of Golden Taurus Aquapark hotel. Little Lucas had spent weeks—actually, months—counting down the nights until departure. He imagined every corner of that place which, according to his parents, was the best hotel for child-friendly fun. Mornings at school felt endless, and the nights even longer, as he dreamed of waterslides and pools.
"Are you sure there's everything there, Dad? Are there really loads of things for kids?" Lucas asked for the umpteenth time, while his father Manuel, with a patient smile, tried to calm him down. The morning sun was already starting to warm the day, promising a splendid trip ahead.
Lucas's father had already memorised the hotel's layout thanks to its website and online reviews.
He replied with a confidence that reassured Lucas. "More than sure, champ. Your mum and I have done our homework. The hotel has several pools, yes, but the most important thing is the water park, with slides of all sizes. Big, small, curvy, straight! And that’s not all—there’s also a play area where staff run daily activities for kids. There’s even a heated pool just in case the sun doesn’t come out one day. We made sure there are games and sports so you won’t be bored for even a second."
The car journey felt endless to Lucas, even though his parents tried their best to keep him entertained. Finally, after what seemed like infinite hours and very close to the city of Barcelona, the car turned onto the seafront of Pineda de Mar and suddenly, glistening under the coastal sun, appeared the Golden Taurus Aquapark hotel, a beachfront hotel. And best of all, it was right in front of the sea, with the golden beach stretching out at its feet, inviting sandcastles and splashing in the waves.
Kids’ Activities
Upon entering the lobby, Laura, Lucas’s mum, couldn’t help but exclaim in awe. "What a marvel, darling!" she said to her husband, her eyes sparkling as she took in the large and bright hall. "This hotel was renovated this year. Look at that elegant décor and the relaxed atmosphere. And those terraces overlooking the pool... I can’t wait to sit down with my book and a coffee—or maybe a cold cocktail—while Lucas has the time of his life in the water. This is exactly what we needed!"
Lucas’s father, Manuel, nodded with a satisfied smile. "Told you so, love. We’re really going to relax here. No schedules, no rush. And Lucas... Lucas won’t want to go back home. With the water park, the play area, and all the activities planned for kids, he’ll be entertained from breakfast until dinner. I can already picture myself stretched out on one of those loungers, under the sun, with no worries in the world, just listening to children’s laughter."
Family Hotel for Kids
Lucas wasn’t listening to his parents' conversation. His eyes reflected pure joy; the hotel had transported him into his dreams. His mind was already in the promised pools, the twisting slides, and the huge play area waiting for him. The excitement overwhelmed him—it was a feeling of pure happiness he had never experienced before. This wasn’t just a hotel—it was a world of fun, the best way to make his dreams come true.
Meanwhile, Julia, Lucas’s older sister, didn’t say much, but inside, she was over the moon, because she already knew she’d be going to Barcelona and meeting someone very special.
The Ruiz family holiday had finally begun.
