In a modern office with glass partitions, the constant hum of the air conditioning and the rhythmic tapping of keyboards sounded like the background noise of a major industrial project. A stark contrast to the memories Manuel still had fresh in his mind of his recent summer holidays by the beach. He leaned back in his ergonomic chair, interlacing his hands behind his head, and turned toward the desk next to him.

— Lorenzo, I swear that looking at a spreadsheet again is really hard —Manuel said, breaking the productive office atmosphere—. My head is still at the hotel pool.

Lorenzo looked away from his screen and smiled, turning his chair to face his colleague.

— Was it that good? You definitely look better than before you left.

— Not better —excellent. —Manuel leaned forward, lowering his voice as if sharing a business strategy—. We really hit the mark. We stayed at a hotel designed for children, packed with activities. They didn’t stop for a second, Lorenzo. Between the slides, the animation team and the games, they went to bed exhausted. It’s the Golden Taurus Aquapark hotel in Pineda de Mar. Besides being right on the beachfront, it has its own water park.

Manuel let out a satisfied laugh, recalling his children’s boundless energy on the water slides.

— Seeing them enjoy themselves so much is priceless, but the best part was that, while they were so busy, my wife and I were able to truly relax. It was a total success. And you? How was your trip? —he asked curiously—. You said you were heading to the Costa Brava, right?

Lorenzo’s eyes lit up in a different way, calmer and with a hint of mischief.

— Yes, we went to the Costa Brava. And Manuel… it was spectacular.

He leaned against the desk, reliving images from his days off.

— No big resorts. We found a charming, small hotel right on the beachfront. It’s called Golden Mar Menuda. One of those places where you step out of the hotel and your feet are already on the sand. But what truly amazed us were the views from the room. Waking up with the sea so close has no price.

— Really? Very romantic? —Manuel asked.

— Views of the Mediterranean Sea, the sound of seagulls and small fishing boats on the horizon. Opening the curtains and having those stunning views right there is pure charm… we had breakfast on the restaurant terrace overlooking the cove. —Lorenzo paused, smiling as he remembered his partner’s reaction—. And you know I’m in a new relationship. She was delighted, said it was the most romantic place in the world. It was exactly what we needed to strengthen our relationship.

Manuel nodded with a mix of friendly envy and camaraderie.

— Sounds like a movie. Some enjoying water slides, others enjoying the sound of the waves as a couple.

— Everything in life has its moment —Lorenzo concluded, turning back to his screen—. But I’m glad we both came back recharged, because judging by the inbox… we’re going to need it.
